What is a Brightening Laser Facial?

Our Brightening Laser Facial uses light to effectively to destroy targets located in the skin with minimum damage to the surrounding tissues. Light is used to lighten, fade or remove visible signs of photo-damage including wrinkling, enlarged pores, coarse skin texture, and pigment alterations. It uses pico laser technology to bypass the skin leaving it undamaged and zaps pigmentation, impurities, sebum and bacteria in the skin's deeper layers.

What is laser toning like in South Korea?

Our Brightening Laser Facial, follows techniques pioneered in South Korea, to effectively treat stubborn skin pigmentation like melasma. Unlike traditional lasers that target melanin with high energy, this technique uses low energy across several passes and several sessions to minimize risks like hypopigmentation. Widely embraced in Korea, it is also favored for addressing acne scars and other skin concerns like acne and fine lines.

How long does a Brightening Laser Facial take?

Our Brightening Laser Facial is quick. The treatment takes 15-20 minutes. Including your stop at our cleansing station, you can be in and out in 30 minutes.

Will I see results right away?

After the transitory redness immediately after the treatment, there is a noticeable brightening of the skin. The laser energy deposited in the skin triggers a phototherapeutic effect that will break down pigmentation, impurities and sebum in the coming weeks. This will be naturally sloughed off by the body. The melanin will fade and your skin will brighten. The sebum and acne bacteria will break down, oiliness and acne will reduce. Collagen will be stimulated and fine lines will fade and help to fill in acne scars. Because of the non-invasive and non-damaging nature of the treatment, it may take 3-4 sessions to see optimal results. Depending on the skin condition, others may take more sessions to see results.

What does the Brightening Laser Facial feel like?

The treatment feels like a rubber band gently snapping on your skin. Before the start of the treatment, our experienced therapists will perform a test shot to calibrate your level of comfort. The energy of the laser can be adjusted to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

What can I expect immediately after the Brightening Laser Facial?

Immediately following Brightening Laser Facial, the skin may appear red for a few hours. Hyperpigmented areas may turn darker in the next few days but this will fade and fall away. Photo therapy, despite its high levels of efficacy and safety, is not free of side effects. Erythema (redness) and edema (swelling) of the treated area can sometimes occur but usually subsides within a few hours, but can last up to seven days or longer.

When will I see maximum results?

Typically, 3-6 sessions are needed, depending on desired results. The melanin will fade and your skin will brighten. The sebum and acne bacteria will break down, oiliness and acne will reduce. Collagen will be stimulated and fine lines will fade and help to fill in acne scars. Ideally, the sessions should be scheduled 3-6 weeks apart to allow pigmentation to be removed from the body and the skin to rest. Follow-up treatments may be necessary for desired results. Most clients require a number of treatments over several months with gradual results occurring over this time. Are there side effects to the Brightening Laser Facial?

Photo therapy, despite its high levels of efficacy and safety, is not free of side effects. Erythema (redness) and edema (swelling) of the treated area can occur but usually subsides within a few hours, but can last up to seven days or longer. Irritation, itching, and/or a mild burning sensation or pain (similar to a sunburn) may occur within 48 hours of treatment. Pigment changes, such as hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, of the skin in the treated areas can occasionally occur. Most often, it is transient, lasting up to six months, but in rare cases can be permanent. Most cases of hyper- or hypo- pigmentation occur in people with darker skin or when the treated area has been exposed to sunlight before or after a treatment. Occasionally, these pigment changes can occur despite appropriate protection from the sun. Unprotected sun exposure in the weeks following treatments are contraindicated as it may cause pigmentation changes or worsen the condition. Scarring, which can be hypertrophic or even keloid, can occur. Other known complications of this procedure include blisters, reddening, pinpoint pitted scars, bruising, superficial crusting, burns, pain, and infection. These side effects are usually temporary, lasting from five to ten days but can be permanent as well.

How do I care for my skin after the Brightening Laser Facial?

Do not wet your skin for 5 hours. For the next 24 hours, avoid anything that will add heat to your skin – no exercise, no sauna. Avoid sun exposure. If you need to go, out wear SPF or physical sun protection like a hat or an umbrella. Avoid active skincare ingredients for the next 5 days. These will include tretinoin, retinols, kojic acid, and other tyrosinase inhibitors like Vitamin C. If your skin feels hot or red, you can apply some aloe vera to gently cool it down. Also try to use a hydrating face mask to restore the moisture in your skin. Hyperpigmented areas may turn darker in the next few days, but this will fade and fall away.
